At least once a week the monks gather to attend Chapter, a meeting usually presided over by the Abbot of the abbey. The Abbot addresses the monks on spiritual matters or current events that are of interest to the monastic community. External speakers are invited occasionally.
These meetings are given the name of ‘chapter’ as they involve the reading and discussion of a chapter from the Rule of St Benedict.
